Surigao del Sur is one of the top 10 provinces in the country that will receive P4,000,000 reward being an Agri-Pinoy Awardee on Friday, February 10, at Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

According to Governor Johnny Pimentel, this was due to the “good performance” through the implementation of programs and projects that contributed to the increase in rice production in the province.

Pimentel told Capitol employees during the flag ceremony program on Monday, 40 provinces were nominated for the Agri-Pinoy Award but only 10 among the 16 finalists have made it — one of which is Surigao del Sur.

He stressed, he is set to leave along with Provincial Agriculturist Marcos Quico for said occasion of which Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala will give the award.

He clarified the financial reward will be allocated for projects that will enhance rice productivity such as dryer, multi-purpose pavement, sprayers, and the like.
