

Abandoned NPA camp in Mindanao seized
The Army’s 402nd Brigade in Surigao del Sur reported that soldiers seized on Wednesday afternoon a big New People’s Army (NPA) camp located within the boundaries of Surigao del Sur and Agusan del Norte.
Col. Ferdinand Napule, commanding officer of the 402nd Brigade, said patrolling soldiers of the 402nd Third Special Forces discovered the abandoned camp in Sitio Kamalig, Barangay Puting Bato in Cabadbaran City in Agusan del Norte.
The three localities are known mining areas for gold, nickel, copper and chromite.
Both police and military reported that the abandoned camp may provide shelter for 500 persons complete with six kitchens, 126 bunkers, 30 outposts and foxholes.
The camp is believed to be the main lair of the Guerrilla Front 21C of the NPA North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee.
Soldiers recovered from the NPA camp one superpower generator (2HP NG-1000), 20 liters of gasoline, 100 meters of electric wire, two gallons of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 12 sacks of assorted materials used for the production of IEDs, two gallons of epoxy, four cans (1.35 kilos per can) of marine epoxy and food stuff.
